Again

Randy Wolf, a supposed "beast on the hill", is 0-4 to the Marlins since 2003. Which brings me to my point of this article. The Philz have a problem on the mound. I feel that we need to due our best to get people in our bullpen that are monsters in the Majors. There is some great talent and some good promise in Jon Lieber and Gavin Floyd. We need pitchers to be consistent. I remember the days of '93 when we had Curt Schilling, Tommy Greene, Mitch Williams (I know what your all thinking.. but he was a beast in the 9th until that damn homerun) on the dirt hill. Those guys were unbelievable. If the Philz can get their act together on the mound, we will be a machine this season.

Philz have fallen to 4-5 with a 1-2 series againt Florida. We need these NL East wins bad. I am tired of the damn Marlins and Braves takin it year after year. It is early in the season. The Philz have a big weekend series comin up against the Braves at home. It is a big test so keep your eyes on the scoreboard when you get a chance.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://gophillies.blogspot.com/2005/04/marlins-tag-wolf-again.html' title='Marlins Tag Wolf ... Wednesday night was a crushing 7-3 loss. Worrel takes the loss but some brightness showed when Pat Burrell knocked one out of the park.
Thursady night was a close one, 5-4 Washington advantage. This game was 10 innings of the Philz leaving men on base at the end of the innings. Loss goes to Randy Cormier.
Friday against St. Louis was the same result, a loss delivered to Philadelphia: compliments of Ryan Madson. The Philz gave up 5 runs in the last 3 innings. That's Philadelphia sports for ya.

Now on a brighter note, on Saturday the Philz found some young talent in right hander Gavin Floyd. This young "Ace" retired 19 straight batters at one point in the ball game taking Philadelphia to a 10-4 win. "So what" you say, "19 batters, so he had a good day, big whoop". Well ladies and gents, tat 19 batters came from the most dominant line-up in the Major League. Edmonds, Walker, Pujols, Nunez, and Rolen are not names that come from the sad end of this kind of story, but Gavin Floyd had no problem showing them the way. So the win showed some good signs for the futre of ourt bullpen after all. The Philz (2-3) will have to pick it up now get us that penant.

For the full story: www.philadelphiaphillies.com

Phirst Impressions Tell Alot

The beginning of the Charlie Manuel Era was a good one. Philadelphia can be a tough city to play for, coach for, or even cheer for; but Charlie Manuel came out against the Washington Nationals on Mon. April 4th and showed his new fan club what he will do. The Phillies stomped the Nationals debut with a 8-4 win. Another newly aquired asset just happened to make his Philadelphia debut worth watching was the old but still speedy centerfielder Kenny Lofton who hit a beautiful three-run homer in the fifth.

For the full story go to www.philadelphiaphillies.com

Philz Take Another Pre-Season Loss to The New York Monopoly ... But let's look at the bright side... we only lost 5-4, our ace (best pitcher for all you who don't follow baseball) Randy Wolf, pitched two scoreless innings, and center fielder Kenny Lofton had a nice little triple. So all in all I feel it was a good sign for these Philthies from the "City of Brotherly Love." And for those of you who missed the game, Boston turned a ridiculous triple play.
